Leonard Bernstein
Leonard Bernstein was born on this day in 1918. Bernstein, who died on October 14, 1990, is widely regarded as one of the greatest American conductors and composers. Indeed, Bernstein was one of the first Americans to gain worldwide fame in the music world. Some of his greatest works were for the theatre including: Candide, West Side Story, and On the Town.
